Over the last several years, production companies have flocked to neighboring states of Texas but not to Texas due to tax credit reasons. A new piece of legislation, however, could reverse this trend and reduce taxes in the Lone Star state for Hollywood production companies. A bill that was just recently introduced by Texas legislatures would give film production crews who have to spend over $15 million for production costs a 30% tax credit. States like New Mexico, Louisiana, and Oklahoma already have a tax credit system already in place which has caused movie producers to film there instead of Texas.
