A missing South Carolina student was found dead near a quarry in Richland County, local media reports.
University of South Carolina Junior Samuel Laundon died from blunt force trauma to his head and body, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts confirmed in an autopsy Tuesday, WACH reported.
Laundon, 19, had been missing since Saturday. He was last seen walking home with friends just off the university’s campus.
The Columbia Fire Department aided in the search for Launden, and found his body Sunday around 5 p.m. near the Vulcan Material Company Quarry, the station reported.
“This morning we received confirmation from the Richland County Coroner’s Office of the death of one of our students over the weekend, junior Sam Laundon,” University of South Carolina President Bob Caslen said in a statement.
