A 4-year-old boy visiting his father in Chicago was killed by stray gunfire while getting a haircut — one of five people killed and 53 others wounded in shootings across the embattled city over Labor Day weekend.
Mychal Moultry Jr., who was staying at his father’s apartment in Woodlawn, was struck twice in the head by gunfire from outside the residence, WGN-TV reported.
The boy, who was visiting from Alabama, was later pronounced dead at a hospital Sunday, police said in a statement.
“There are currently no witnesses and it is unknown who fired the shots or where they came from,” according to police, who said no arrests had been made of midday Monday.
Mychal’s 34-year-old mother was also hurt by glass fragments during the shooting, WGN-TV reported.
“Every parent loves him,” dad Mychal Moultry Sr. told the station. “Everyone would want a kid just like him.”
