The United Kingdom’s Home Secretary has just approved the United States’ request to extradite Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
Assange is currently facing “17 counts of violating espionage law and one count of violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act” which carries a sentence of over 175 years.
Some of the documents that Assange helped declassify through Wikileaks contained information that showed the U.S. government was torturing prisoners, committing war crimes, and spying on its citizens.
Assange’s legal team is still looking to appeal the extradition but it appears he will be facing a Judge in the United States within the near future.
