Zcash Breaks $1,000 as ETF Inflows and Mining Competition Accelerate

Zcash crossed above $1,000 on September 4 as two different forms of competition arrived at once: investors moved money into a newly listed exchange-traded fund, while miners added more computing power to chase the network’s block rewards.

That combination pushed ZEC into territory it had not held on a sustained basis since its chaotic first days of exchange trading in 2016.

The Block reported that ZEC reached roughly $1,023 on Friday, extending its one-month gain to about 94 percent and lifting its market capitalization toward $17 billion. The move followed the August 25 launch of Grayscale’s Zcash ETF, which trades on NYSE Arca under the ticker ZCSH.

The fund had recorded approximately $34.4 million in net
