Bitcoin and XRP sold off Tuesday after the Senate failed to advance the Clarity Act, adding another layer of uncertainty to a market that was already under pressure.
Decrypt reported that the procedural vote fell short of the 60 votes needed to move forward. Bitcoin slid toward $76,000 during the session, while XRP posted a sharper percentage decline as traders reacted to the setback for federal crypto market-structure legislation.
The vote did not amount to a final rejection of every possible crypto bill. It did, however, stop this version from advancing on Tuesday and exposed how difficult the remaining negotiations have become.
