Vitalik Buterin says Ethereum is approaching a point where calling it simply a blockchain will describe its history better than its actual design.

In a new essay, Vitalik Buterin lays out a 2030 vision built from three pieces: a blockchain for ordering and settlement, cryptographic proofs that make computation easier to verify, and decentralized computers doing more work away from the base chain.
