UT Austin suspends students behind pro-Palestinian protests

The University of Texas in Austin issued a suspension for its students involved in the Palestine Solidarity Committee following its on-campus protest.

Some 57 protesters were arrested on the UT Austin campus earlier this week when the protest in the name of Palestinians in Gaza got out of hand. Police made the arrests while pushing the protest off campus and onto a commercial street. While the university referred to the suspension as “interim,” it remains to be seen when it will be lifted.

Students were suspended from gathering as the Palestine Solidarity Committee due to violating student conduct and integrity rules, the university explained to CBS Austin. It did not go into further detail.
