
Two U.S. Embassy workers and two Mexican agents were killed in a car crash in Mexico on Sunday, U.S. Ambassador Ronald Johnson announced.
“We deeply regret the tragic loss of two members of staff from the United States Embassy, the Director of the Chihuahua State Investigation Agency (AEI), and one member of that agency in this accident,” he posted on X. “We recognize their dedication and tireless efforts to confront one of the greatest challenges of our time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones.”
The Mexican officials were identified as Chihuahua State Investigations Agency Director Pedro Roman Oseguera Cervantes and officer Manuel Genaro Mendez Montes. The Embassy workers’ names have not yet been disclosed.
The four were returning from a drug lab raid in a mountainous region of Chihuahua in northern Mexico. The raid targeted two methamphetamine labs in the town of Morelos. The Embassy personnel were “instructors”
