
President Donald Trump’s warm relationship with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani went up in flames Thursday after the president said the socialist was “DESTROYING New York” following the mayor’s first 100 days in office.
President Donald Trump fired off a Truth Social post, criticizing Mamdani’s support of Gov. Kathy Hochul’s (D-NY) proposed pied-à-terre tax, an annual surcharge on homes valued above $5 million when there is no primary New York City resident present.
Mamdani touted the first-of-its-kind proposal in the state, saying, “We are taxing the rich” in an announcement. The proposal is estimated to generate $500 million in revenue annually, according to Hochul’s office.
However, speaking on Thursday’s broadcast of CBS Mornings about his first 100 days in office, Mamdani described an active collaboration with the president despite their partisan disagreements and their meetings earlier this year.
“I would say the two of us are in touch,” he said.
