In recognition of Memorial Day, which seeks to honor and remember those who have died while serving in the armed forces, President Donald Trump issued a message calling on God to bless those who have sacrificed their lives.

“God bless those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. I love you all!” Trump posted to Truth Social on Monday.

In his social media post, Trump also took the opportunity to highlight recent military achievements and to accuse Democrats of irreverence toward the armed forces.

“Happy Memorial Day to all, including the Dumocrats, who disrespect our Military and all of the tremendous success that it has had over the last year,” the president said.

Throughout his second presidential term, Trump has championed widespread celebrations of America’s 250th birthday. The Trump administration created the public-private partnership Freedom 250, which has hosted a number of events to recognize the occasion.

As part of the ongoing initiative, it is also hosting the “Freedom 250 National Memorial Day Observance: An Evening of Stories and Service” at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday night, which will feature candlelight, musical performances and storytelling.

“Through personal and historically grounded narratives shared by veterans, historians, family members, and national security leaders, attendees will honor the lives and legacies of American heroes,” the Freedom 250 website stated.

“This event will be a powerful national moment to honor the fallen, support military families, and reflect on the enduring cost of freedom,” it continued.

According to the White House, it will include personal and heroic narratives of Americans from all 50 states.

Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins asked people as they celebrate the holiday to remember those who have sacrificed their lives for American freedom.

“Memorial Day is about those who gave all, those who did not come home, but gave us the ability to go home,” Collins said in a video message posted to X on Monday.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) took the opportunity to highlight the online Veterans Legacy Memorial, which honors more than 10 million veterans interred in cemeteries across the country. On the website, a search function is provided to locate veterans’ profile pages.

“Some were taken from battlefields, from families, from futures they never got to live. Our commitment to them did not end there,” said the VA in a Monday social media post.

“The Veterans Legacy Memorial exists so their stories do not end where their lives did,” it continued.
