Trump distances himself from ‘out there’ Bovino after leadership shakeup in Minneapolis

President Donald Trump called Border Patrol official Gregory Bovino “pretty out there” during his trip to Iowa on Tuesday.

“Bovino’s very good, but he’s a pretty out there kind of a guy. And in some cases that’s good; maybe it wasn’t good here,” Trump said.

Trump made the comments in an interview with Fox News’s Will Cain on the same day Bovino’s demotion, from his role as the overseer of Border Patrol’s operations with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, became effective. The news of Bovino’s demotion broke two days after a Border Patrol agent fatally shot 37-year-old Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.
