President Donald Trump celebrated his administration’s success in beautifying Washington, D.C., specifically the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool and the fountains at Lafayette Park.
Last month, Trump said he tasked Interior Secretary Doug Burgum with “fixing the absolutely filthy” reflecting pool on the National Mall after the Biden administration failed to do so. Trump now says the work will be done in record time and at a fraction of the initially projected cost.
“Starting the final phase of Renovation that was supposed to cost 301 Million Dollars, and take three years, and was instead done, with the help of Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, and his entire Department, and a much better final result – 2 Million Dollars in one week!” he wrote in a Truth Social post on Friday. That message was followed by another post with the words: “Coming Soon.”
