President Donald Trump appointed William Pulte as the Acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI) after current DNI Tulsi Gabbard submitted her resignation.
Pulte currently serves as the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) and the chairperson of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, positions Trump assured he would maintain.
“I am appointing the Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, and Chairman of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, William J. Pulte, to serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence,” the president posted to Truth Social on Tuesday.
“William has deep experience managing the most sensitive matters in America, the safety and soundness of the Markets, and over 10 Trillian Dollars at Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, a substantial increase from where it was just 12 months ago,” he continued.
“During this period, he will remain Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, and Chairman of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac. Congratulations to Director Pulte!” Trump added.

In late May, Gabbard submitted her resignation, which takes effect at the end of June, citing her husband’s battle with “an extremely rare form of bone cancer” as the reason for her decision.
