Solana is moving its biggest consensus rewrite in years out of the lab and into a formal testnet exercise.
CryptoSlate reports that Anza plans to move Alpenglow into testnet after months of rehearsals on a community cluster. Alpenglow changes how the network reaches agreement, aiming for dramatically faster finality with less voting traffic on-chain.

The testnet stage is where that design meets a much less forgiving environment. Developers have to prove that validators can migrate cleanly, remain synchronized, and recover from the kind of uneven performance that appears across a public network.
