Russia Plans on Sending Troops to Nicaragua for “Humanitarian Operations”

US policymakers who think that poking the Russian Bear is a sage foreign policy strategy are in for a rude awakening.

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega announced on June 9, 2022 that Russian troops will be allowed to enter Nicaragua and carry out law enforcement functions.

As Tyler Durden of ZeroHedge noted, this move by Nicaragua in inviting Russian troops “will certainly upset the current mainstream narrative that Russia has been ‘isolated’ from the rest of the world by Western sanctions.”

Russian authorities have downplayed the impact of this troop deployment to Nicaragua by describing it as “routine.” 

However, Nicaraguan state television offered a more ominous message:

‘If U.S. missile systems can almost reach Moscow from Ukrainian territory, it is time for Russia
