Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired back at New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, calling his assertions “absurd”.
Netanyahu’s comments came in response to Mamdani’s ongoing accusations that Israel’s actions in Gaza amount to genocide and his public refusal to explicitly support Israel’s right to exist as an explicitly Jewish state.
In a CNN interview, Netanyahu defended Israel’s right to exist, pointing out that it is the only democracy in the Middle East with a diverse population including Arab and Muslim citizens. He dismissed Mamdani’s criticisms as unfounded.
