Police in Phoenix fatally shot a man who said he had a gun — then simulated pulling the weapon — during an intense standoff outside his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, harrowing bodycam video shows.
Jordan Crawford, 30, told cops he armed, while putting his right hand near his waistband, when officers responded to the apartment complex on Dec. 28, police said.
“What’s behind your back, dude?” an officer asks Crawford, the video shows.
“It’s a gun,” he replies. “You want to see?”
“You have a gun?” the cop asks. “Don’t do that.”
Crawford then continues backing away from the officer while ignoring his commands to stop and put up his hands, the clip shows.
“Jordan, we don’t want to kill you, dude!” an officer yells. “Jordan, stop it right now, brother! Stop!”
Crawford, whose ex-girlfriend said he earlier refused to leave her apartment, then shouts at the officers and begins counting backward from five.
“OK, who’s going to kill someone tonight?!”
