Are we living through the plot of George Orwell’s 1984?

A North Carolina high school student was recently suspended for using a common phrase that appears all over government documents.

Can you guess what he dared to say? ‘Illegal alien,’ that’s right—he was suspended for days for saying a completely harmless and common phrase. The New York Post outlined the incident:

His mother, Leah McGhee, said his teacher had given an assignment that used the word “alien,” and Christian asked: “Like space aliens or illegal aliens without green cards?”

Another student reportedly took offense and threatened to fight Christian, so the teacher took the matter to the assistant principal, according to the Carolina Journal.
