Older humpback males sing like rockstars to get the girls in epic comeback

Older male humpback whales still got game.

Elder whales have perfected their love songs over decades and are out-charming, out-singing and out-playing their younger rivals in one of the ocean’s most competitive dating scenes, according to new research.

Male whales — which can live up to 90 years — become sexually active between 5 and 25 years old.

And they spend much of their time rehearsing and perfecting hundreds of complex, evolving and culturally transmitted songs.
