Ohio Senate race set with Sherrod Brown comeback bid against Jon Husted

Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) will face Democrat Sherrod Brown in November after Tuesday’s primary election results as part of a special election for the seat formerly held by now-Vice President JD Vance.

Brown, a former three-term senator who was ousted in 2024 by now-Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH), was projected by the Associated Press to win the Democratic nomination in a race where he faced virtually no resistance.

A hand-picked recruit of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Brown will take on Husted, the former Ohio lieutenant governor appointed to the seat by Gov. Mike DeWine (R-OH), in the midterm elections. Husted was unopposed in the GOP primary.
