MoneyGram Launches Stablecoin-Backed Visa Card in Colombia

MoneyGram is turning a stablecoin balance into something customers can use at ordinary checkout counters.

The company has launched the MoneyGram Card, a stablecoin-backed Visa card that lets eligible users hold a stable-dollar balance, spend online or in stores and connect that balance to MoneyGram’s cash network. The rollout begins in Colombia, with additional markets planned.

According to the official MoneyGram announcement, customers can sign up inside the MoneyGram app, manage their balance and spending in one place, add the digital card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, pay online or at stores that accept Visa and transfer funds to themselves for local cash pickup at a MoneyGram location, with a physical card planned for later
