Michael Saylor has heard another Bitcoin obituary. This time, his answer came down to a simple line: “The orange tie stays.”

The exchange began after venture capitalist Jason Calacanis questioned what Bitcoin has become 17 years after its launch. As CoinDesk reported, Calacanis argued that Bitcoin remains awkward for everyday transactions, lacks the flexibility of smart-contract networks, and no longer holds the cultural excitement it once did.

He compared Bitcoin with technologies that were eventually displaced by easier, more capable alternatives. His larger point was that an asset this old should already have proved a dominant mass-market use case.
