Maryland Republican challenges Wes Moore over military record transparency

A Republican challenger to Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD) demanded more transparency over the governor’s military records.

Federal contracting consultant John Myrick sought to force Moore’s hand by releasing his own detailed military records. He told Fox Baltimore that he granted full authorization to the military to make public all his records connected to his time in the military, something Moore still hasn’t done.

“Maryland voters need to be informed about the candidates [who] are seeking offices at all levels,” Myrick told the outlet. “That’s the only way you can actually make sure you’re getting representation that actually meets your needs.”

“I have no problem releasing my full military record to any news outlet that requests it,” he said, adding that he would do so “whenever you want it.”

Moore served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1998 to 2014, carrying out a deployment to Afghanistan as part of the prestigious 82nd Airborne
