Man who threatened Randy Fine now faces federal charges

A man who repeatedly threatened Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) online faces federal charges that could land him up to 175 years in prison.

Massachusetts resident Edwin Guerrero, 25, was arrested in August 2024 after threatening Fine with antisemitic language over X. He was hit with eight federal charges this week, complicating his position due to state charges that may overlap. He is scheduled to appear in court to make his plea on Tuesday.

“Guerrero plans to plea to the open court, meaning he will change his plea to no contest or guilty and leave it to the judge to decide his sentence,” 18th District spokesman Matt Reed said, according to Florida Politics.

Guerrero argued that his threats were only intended to irritate Fine, though he admitted he went too far. The threats were made before Fine entered Congress, when he was still a state representative.
