First they target the enemy. Then they invent the crime. The verdict is written before the trial begins; the proceedings merely dress political vengeance in judicial robes. Every prosecution delivers the same threat: oppose us, and we will destroy you. When those entrusted to uphold the law turn it into a weapon against dissent, they are building a dictatorship.
