Days before former New York City Mayor Randolph “Rudy” Giuliani was hospitalized in critical condition with pneumonia in Florida, talk show host Jimmy Kimmel made a jab at him during his show’s monologue, joking that Giuliani had risen from “the grave.”

On Tuesday’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” the host referenced a past controversial joke in which he described First Lady Melania Trump as an “expectant widow.” This comment was made days before a third assassination attempt against her husband, President Donald Trump. Kimmel also mentioned the former New York mayor during the segment.

“So last night, America’s mayor, Rudy Giuliani, rose from the grave to weigh in on the ongoing drama involving me,” Kimmel joked.

He then played a clip of the 81-year-old on a podcast referring to Kimmel as “one of the most distasteful human beings in this country.”

“I have to say, it hurts to be called distasteful by a man who farted his own pants off in front of Borat’s daughter,” Kimmel responded.

While Giuliani remains in the hospital in “critical but stable condition,” after being admitted for pneumonia on Sunday, he is now breathing on his own, according to his spokesperson, Ted Goodman.

Goodman also explained that Giuliani’s restrictive lung condition stemmed from his direct, extensive exposure to toxins from the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks while serving as mayor.

“Mayor Rudy Giuliani is currently in the hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition. Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he’s fighting with that same level of strength as we speak. We do ask that you join us in prayer for America’s Mayor, Rudy Giuliani,” Goodman wrote in a social media post.

Following the news of his hospitalization, President Trump took to Truth Social to praise Giuliani as the “Best Mayor in the History of New York City.”
