IT BEGINS AGAIN: Election Failures Across America – Polling Sites Shuttered, Scanners Jammed, Voters Left Confused and Decoy Dan Ballots

Americans should not have to navigate an obstacle course to cast a ballot. This is by design and always in key battleground states and swing districts.

In Maricopa County, power outages temporarily closed two voting locations Monday; in Nevada’s Washoe County, a printing error put “FALSE” on roughly 32,000 ballot return envelopes, alarming voters even though their ballots appear to remained valid; and in Philadelphia, officials are urging voters to resolve identification problems and defective mail ballots that could otherwise go uncounted.

This is what we’ve been conditioned to expect on Election Day: breakdowns, confusion, and excuses. Functioning polling places, clear instructions, swift corrections, and accountability are the bare minimum. A nation with America’s wealth and technology should be ashamed that delivering them is
