This California postal worker knows how to deliver more than the mail while on duty – particularly in a medical emergency.
Fernando Garcia was making his rounds in Norwalk on Friday when he heard a man screaming for help.
“When he turned around I saw that he was holding his left arm,” Garcia told KCAL. “And he was just covered in blood.”
The victim had accidentally cut his arm with a chainsaw near his sister Juanita Cabral’s home.
The quick-thinking letter carrier jumped into action and used his belt as a tourniquet before medics arrived, according to the station.
“Looped it through the hole, put it around his arm, tightened it as best as I could and just wrapped it up,” he told KCAL. “And held it there as best as I could.”
