This devout Muslim spent over 13 years as a public defender refusing county retirement matches because they involved interest (riba) forbidden under Sharia. He sued LA County with help from CAIR and Stanford Law’s Religious Liberties Clinic. He won a special accommodation forcing the government to create Sharia-compliant investment options just for him.
