France’s Tax Data Breach Just Created a Dangerous New Risk for Bitcoin Holders

A reported breach of France’s tax authority has created a particularly dangerous problem for Bitcoin holders.

The exposed records allegedly contain far more than names and email addresses. They include income figures, home addresses, tax identifiers, family information and other details that could help criminals identify wealthy targets—and make a fraudulent message sound convincing enough to open the door.
