A South Korean court on Wednesday sentenced Han Duck-soo, the nation’s former prime minister, to 23 years in prison for his involvement in the declaration of martial law in 2024.
The court ruled that the imposition by former President Yoon Suk Yeol “constituted an act of rebellion,” The Independent noted.
“The Seoul Central District Court found Han guilty because he was considered instrumental in setting up the outward appearance of a cabinet meeting that facilitated the martial law declaration,” NBC News stated.
