Ethereum Test Connects L1 and L2 in One Atomic Transaction

Ethereum developers have demonstrated a transaction that links mainnet and a layer-2 network as one indivisible operation—a small test with potentially large consequences for how Ethereum’s fragmented ecosystem works.

The Ethereum Economic Zone, or EEZ, sent 0.001 ETH through an atomic L1-to-L2 transaction on mainnet. The amount is tiny by design.

The important part is that the linked actions are treated as one unit: either every step succeeds, or the entire operation is reversed.

That property is common inside a single blockchain transaction. Extending it across Ethereum mainnet and a rollup is harder, because the networks normally confirm work on different schedules and communicate through asynchronous bridges.

Cointelegraph reported that EEZ contributor Eduardo Antuña Díez shared
