Ethereum now has a hard date attached to one of the biggest security transitions in crypto.
The network’s protocol team is aiming to make Ethereum’s base layer resistant to quantum-computing attacks across execution, consensus and data by December 2029.

In its new breakdown of protocol priorities, the Ethereum Foundation Protocol Cluster says the target will be treated as non-negotiable until at least January 2027. Outside experts will then help reassess the pace of quantum progress.
