Chainlink just landed the kind of deal that makes the line between traditional banking and blockchain infrastructure look thinner than ever.
Bottomline, a major provider of payment and treasury technology, plans to use Chainlink to connect its bank customers with public and private blockchains for cross-border settlement. The company serves more than 600 banks and handles over $16 trillion in payments each year across its platforms.

Decrypt reports that Bottomline will keep the banking side familiar. Financial institutions can continue sending ISO 20022 payment messages, while Chainlink works underneath as the bridge to blockchain networks.
Bottomline also serves roughly 1,200 financial institutions and 10,000 businesses worldwide. The partnership follows earlier interoperability tests in which SWIFT worked
