Calif.: 184-acre ‘Sandy Fire’ 0% contained, evacuation orders issued for Simi Valley

Authorities issued evacuation orders in Simi Valley, California, due to a 184-acre 0% contained fire, as of Monday morning.

“Immediate threat to life. This is a lawful order to LEAVE NOW. The area is lawfully closed to public access,” Cal FIRE said on their website, listing several zones of Simi Valley listed in the evacuation order, and other areas under an evacuation warning.

“Fire is headed toward these roads, evacuate immediately!” Cal FIRE urged just after 12:00 p.m., listing:

  • Meadow Mist Court
  • Hazelridge Court
  • Trickling Brooke Ct.
  • Rocking Horse Drive
  • Casual Ct.
  • Rambling Rd.
  • Meander Drive

Cal FIRE said 200 firefighters are currently assigned to the “Sandy fire,” and are supported by three air tankers and six helicopters “conducting aggressive aerial suppression operations in coordination with ground crews.”
