Hundreds of protesters (some masked) clashed with police overnight Sept 6–7 in Portsmouth after a single dinghy carrying ~140 migrants made an unusually long crossing from Normandy and was brought ashore near Eastney. Demonstrators blocked roads to stop coaches heading to the Manston processing center, then pursued the convoy toward Dover; it was the second major protest of the weekend.
