Biden: Putin's war shows farmers are 'the backbone of America'


President Joe Biden traveled to Kankakee Farm in rural Illinois Wednesday afternoon to tout new action the administration is taking to support food security in the face of the war in Ukraine.

“The real reason I’m here is to thank American farmers,” Biden said near the top of his remarks. “You’re literally the backbone of our country. It’s not hyperbole, but you also feed the world, and we’re seeing with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s war in Ukraine, you’re like the backbone of freedom.”
