Avalanche says its blockchain technology is being integrated into the United Arab Emirates’ national digital identity system, putting the network behind a document vault used by more than 12 million people.
It is a potentially significant government-scale use case. It also comes with an important caveat: the UAE government has not yet published the technical scope, rollout status or architecture of the Avalanche integration.

The announcement concerns UAE PASS, the country’s unified digital identity platform for citizens, residents and visitors. The service lets users verify their identity, sign documents and access thousands of government and private-sector services.
