Asbestos found in children’s toy as parents warned to throw product out immediately


Asbestos has been found in samples of a children’s toy sold nationally for more than a year, prompting a warning for parents to stop using the product immediately and safely dispose of it.

The Wonder Co Scoop & Play Ice cream sensory bin and Scoop & Play Dino discovery sensory bin have both been recalled over concerns they may contain asbestos.

Testing of some samples of the children’s toy did find asbestos, the Product Safety alert states.

“The products are being recalled because the sand may include asbestos, which is a prohibited substance in Australia,” the alert stated.

“The sand in the products may cause a risk to health as tremolite asbestos has been detected in some samples after laboratory testing.”

The products were sold
