A lawyer representing actor Adam Baldwin slammed the criminal charges brought against him Thursday over the accidental shooting of Halyna Hutchins in 2021 on the set of the film “Rust.”
New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies announced that Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who was the armorer on the set where Hutchins was fatally shot, were each charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter.
“This decision distorts Halyna Hutchins’ tragic death and represents a terrible miscarriage of justice,” Baldwin attorney Luke Nikas said in a statement.
“Mr. Baldwin had no reason to believe there was a live bullet in the gun – or anywhere on the movie set,” the statement added. “He relied on the professionals with whom he worked, who assured him the gun did
