If these executives truly believe their technology poses an existential danger, they should stop selling advanced chips, systems and expertise to China—not demand a Washington regulatory fortress that protects their market share, crushes smaller competitors and leaves Beijing free to surge ahead. The answer is not an American retreat; it is American victory: accelerate innovation, secure our technology, impose strict safeguards against the dangers they warn about and deny our enemies the tools to surpass us.
