West Nile-infected mosquitoes detected in at least 7 states

Mosquitoes carrying the potentially paralyzing West Nile virus have been detected in at least seven states so far this summer — including New York.

Four of the seven states — Iowa, Illinois, Arkansas and Arizona — have seen West Nile virus cases in humans, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Empire State’s infected mosquitoes were caught in late June in two Rockland County towns, Best Life reported, citing local officials.

Massachusetts and Colorado are reportedly the other two states that have reported the disease-carrying mosquitoes, without identifying any human cases.
