The House is set to vote on reelecting House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to the leadership post.
While President-elect Donald Trump has endorsed Johnson, the speaker’s political future in the position appeared uncertain after several House Republicans suggested he would not have their support come Jan. 3.

A speaker needs a majority of votes cast, and House Republicans are expected to have 219 seats. Depending on how many members are present to vote, Johnson can likely lose no more than two votes, and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) is already a hard “no” vote on the matter.
