Five more Walgreens stores will be shut down next month in San Francisco due to an ongoing wave of “organized retail crime.”
A spokesman for Walgreens said that the “difficult decision” was made to close the stores due to the frequency of the stores being targeted.
Prescriptions will be shipped to other stores in the area.
As for the workers at the five stores, the spokesperson was hopeful that they would be able to transfer to other stores as well.
Walgreens has already shut down at least 10 stores in the San Francisco area since 2019.
Many are blaming the closings on the lack of accountability, as thieves are casually robbing the stores in the middle of the day without any reprecussions from the police.
