Violence erupts in West Bank after Gaza ceasefire, leaving at least 10 dead

As the world celebrates the fragile ceasefire halting the war in Gaza, a new round of violence broke out in the West Bank, leaving dozens of casualties.

Israeli military officials announced a “counterterrorism operation” across the West Bank, focused on the city of Jenin, beginning Tuesday and extending into Wednesday. According to the Ramallah-based Palestinian Health Ministry, 10 were killed in the raid and 40 wounded, with another 25 arrested. Separate from the raid, Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian locals, set fire to properties, and attacked Israeli security forces. At least 21 were injured, according to the Palestinian prime minister’s office.
