Ukraine says Russia violated ‘Easter truce’ over 2,000 times


Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky indicated that Russia violated its “Easter truce,” which was supposed to see a pause in fighting over the weekend, over 2,000 times on Sunday.

In an X post, Zelensky said the violations of the truce on Easter Sunday included 67 Russian attacks on various positions that were mostly concentrated in the city of Pokrovsk, about 35 miles north of Donetsk. There were also 1,355 cases of Russian artillery fire and 673 cases of Russian drone use.

The Ukrainian president said this is clear evidence Russia has “failed” to uphold the Easter weekend truce and reiterated his call for a longer, 30-day ceasefire.
