A British man who stabbed his mosque elder in the neck has begged a judge to jail him — to give him time to memorize the Quran.
Daniel Horton, 30, has pleaded guilty to stabbing Raafat Maglad, 70, while he was kneeling at London Central Mosque on Feb. 20, with no motive given for his brutal attack, according to The Sun.
Now Horton has asked to be sent to prison rather than a psychiatric hospital, saying he wants to be punished — and get time to deepen his religious studies.
“Mr. Horton has been clear in the limited interactions I have had with him that he wants to be sentenced, that he wants to be punished for the harm that he has done,” his lawyer, Sam Blom-Cooper, told the court, according to the report.
