The two Los Angeles County deputies who were shot in the head during a caught-on-video ambush in their patrol car are expected to survive after emerging from surgery, according to reports.
Sheriff Alex Villanueva called the condition of the deputies — a 31-year-old mother and a 24-year-old man — a “double miracle.”
“It looks like they’re going to be able to recover,” Villanueva said Sunday afternoon,” CNN reported.
“We’ll see what the long-term impact is. We don’t know that yet, but they survived the worst,” he said during a community dialogue event.
The sheriff’s department announced it is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect, who was caught on video firing at the deputies at point-blank range about 7 p.m. Saturday in Compton.
