Twitter official: ‘Exploring’ the idea of adding a dislike button

A product lead for Twitter on Tuesday said that the social media platform is currently “exploring” the idea of adding a dislike button or some sort of downvote-upvote system in the same vain as Reddit, Mashable’s Jack Morse reported.

Jackie Singh, a cybersecurity expert for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign, in response to the platform adding a new “fleets” feature meant to compete with Snapchat and Instagram stories, listed four areas in which the site could make some improvements in Singh’s view.

Those areas, in chronological order, were: “Removing all coordinated inauthentic behavior,” “Improving user experience regarding harassment and reporting,” “Add dislike button or downvote capability,” and “Disinformation harming users.”
